Westmont, IL -

Upon entering the Taste of Westmont this past weekend, patrons were greeted by more than just the smell of Westmont’s culinary treats.

The 13th Taste of Westmont, held Friday through Sunday in downtown Westmont, offered games, rides, food and music for the whole family.

“I think it was a real successful weekend,” said Mike Marshall, the vice president of the Westmont Special Events Corp.. “I think the weather cooperated with us immensely. I think Saturday night was our heaviest foot traffic as a whole. The bands and the event in whole was amazing.”

Marshall said he believed all of the 14 food vendors had a successful weekend, with some even saying this was their best year in generated revenues.

“Considering the economy, we are really happy,” said Mark Link, owner of Uncle Bub’s BBQ. “We’ve had great weather so far, and there’s been a lot of people out here.”

Link, whose business has been a vendor at the festival for the past 10 years, said their average on Friday night was above the averages from the opening nights for the past three years.

The owners of Absolutely Delicious, another food vendor at the event, also was happy with the amount of business.

“The line has been to the curb the whole night,” said Beth Mooney, Absolutely Delicious co-owner. “It has been terrific.”

The variety of food vendors pleased some patrons of the festival.

“It’s a good variety. There’s something for everybody,” said Terry O’Grady of Clarendon Hills. “There’s a really good selection of food here. I was surprised.”

O’Grady, who attended Friday with his wife and daughter, said he had a good time and thought that the festival was a great family event, with food, music and rides.

Marshall, who said that the Westmont Special Events Corp. had a great team effort in making the Taste of Westmont happen, thanked the many other people involved with making this event a success.

“I would like to offer gratitude to the village of Westmont and all facets of operations,” Marshall said. “The village employees and all the details needed to make this event successful came together, and without them, we would not have had such a great event.”
