Downers Grove Grade School District 58 Assistant Superintendent for Business Vickie Nissen has turned in her resignation.
Nissen, who accepted a similar position with West Aurora School District 129, said she has learned a great deal working for District 58 and is sad to be leaving. Her last day with District 58 will be Friday, June 29.
| Balancing act Downers Grove Grade School District 58 officials will have plenty of number crunching to do to balance the district’s budget. The district lost its tax hike bid in February. |
“I will miss working with this group of very professional staff members,” Nissen said.
Nissen has worked for District 58 for the past eight years, not only helping craft the budget and handle business matters but also co-chairing the Legislative Committee.
The School Board and committee members expressed their appreciation for Nissen at Monday’s board meeting.
“I want to thank her for her years of service to the board, to District 58, to the legislative committee,” said Paul Coultrap, a parent on the legislative committee. “We learned a lot from you, you helped us out, and you will be sorely missed.”
Superintendent Dale Martin said he will also miss Nissen.
“She was a very valuable member of my staff because she had very strong beliefs, and she stood up for them, and I will miss that,” Martin said.
Currently, Martin said the district is working with the Illinois Association of School Business Officials to find an interim replacement, likely someone who has previously been served as an assistant superintendent for business.
District 58 Community Relations Coordinator Kristine Liptrot said there has been some interest in the position, and school officials are hoping to present a candidate to the board next month.
