Barbara and John Encher of Downers Grove celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on Oct. 11, 2008, with a small family celebration at Carriage Greens in September. The couple was married Oct. 11, 1958, at Five Holy Martyrs Church in Chicago.
Barbara worked with FH Levy/Cities Service Co., and Metropolitan Life Insurance Co. and was a member of Red Hats-Purple Dollies and B&B Bowling League. John retired from Proctor & Gamble in 1991.
The Enchers have three children, Karen (Terry) Skala, Sue Basta and Linda (Gary) Koche; and seven grandchildren.
