Three men were arrested in a Lyons tavern Nov. 5 for trafficking cocaine following an ongoing undercover operation involving the Lyons Police Department and Cook County’s High Intensity Drug Trafficking Unit.
Police said Max Pokragac, 34, of the 3200 block of Maple Avenue, Brookfield, Kimberly Plybon, 39, also of the 3200 block of Maple Avenue, Brookfield, and Peter Skarkonis, 54, of the 3100 block of Home Avenue, Berwyn, were arrested inside the bar at George’s Too Lounge, 8143 W. 47th St., Lyons, after they sold cocaine to police.
All three offered no resistance during the arrest.
Pokragac and Skarkonis have each been charged with four counts of delivery of a controlled substance.
Plybon was charged with one count of delivery of a controlled substance and possession of controlled substance.
Lyons Police Cmdr. Brian Kuratko said the arrests came with the assistance of an informant working with police during Operation Tavern Checks, which is being conducted throughout Cook County. During the past several months, officers have been working covertly in area taverns to identify drug dealers selling narcotics in and around area bars and taverns.
“We’re just sending a message,” Kuratko said. “We’ve always made drug enforcement a priority under our current chief (Daniel Babich).”
There are advantages to working with county police, especially in smaller communities, Kuratko said.
“Lyon’s is tough,” he said. “It is a pretty small town and everyone knows us.”
More arrests are anticipated and the investigation is ongoing, he added.
