The Thomas Ford Memorial Library in Western Springs will host a day-long community celebration Thursday, Oct. 9. The day will begin with a blood drive at the library from 10 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. and culminate with local talent Megan Wells treating library patrons to a one-woman performance of Bram Stoker’s original “Dracula.”
Organizers said Wells, who has been called “the Kate Hepburn of storytelling,” will deliver a dramatic and heart-pounding mix of myth and theater. The performance will run for 90 minutes with a brief intermission. Refreshments will be served. Reservations are not required.
Library patrons who visit the library on Thursday will have an opportunity to determine their own vampire status by taking a short quiz titled “Are You a Vampire?” All patrons who take the quiz will be entered into a drawing for a chance to win a manicure from Studio Bliss in Western Springs.
Community members arriving home at the train station will be met by Dracula and given the opportunity to take the quiz.
