Girls soccer
The Wildcats rallied from an early deficit to down host Batavia 2-1 Saturday.
Batavia (3-2-1) scored off a corner kick just 7:55 into the game and led until Meagan Radloff tied it 4:30 into the second half. Jessica Jones was credited with the assist.
Anna Mercaldo scored what proved to be the game-winning goal with 14:33 remaining, Ivana Boers assisting on the goal.
Kayla Radloff made six saves for West Chicago (5-5).
Badminton
Ania Skorupski highlighted the Wildcats’ fifth-place team finish at Saturday’s DeKalb Invitational.
At 1st singles, she lost a tough three-set match in the finals, 21-17, 20-22, 21-10. She was the only Wildcat entry to place in the top four.
Softball
Freshman Mary Connolly tossed a one-hitter, striking out 11, as West Chicago defeated host Batavia, 3-0, in the first game of a doubleheader Saturday.
The Wildcats scored all of their runs in the fifth inning, which was highlighted by Linnea Detrick’s two-run triple.
West Chicago (8-4) saw its winning streak end at four with a 3-1 loss to the Bulldogs in Game Two.
Connolly (8-3) went 2-for-2 in the second game while Chrissie Rovtar doubled.
On Friday, the Wildcats shut out Naperville North, 3-0.
Boys volleyball
The Wildcats went 3-2 at Saturday’s Downers Grove North Invite, finishing in fifth place after rallying for a 26-28, 25-14, 25-16 win over Homewood-Flossmoor.
West Chicago (10-13) started the tournament with a 25-18, 25-21 sweep of Willowbrook, then lost back-to-back matches to DuPage Valley Conference foe Glenbard East (27-25, 25-19) and Lincoln-Way Central (25-17, 25-23), who beat the Rams for the title.
But the Wildcats rebounded with a 25-16, 25-20 win over Schaumburg to put them in the fifth-place match.
Senior Brendon Jones was named to the all-tournament team.
Girls track
Annette Eichenberger’s third-place finish in the 800-meter run was the highlight Saturday for the Wildcats, who finished eighth of 14 teams at the Glenbard East Invitational.
Eichenberger ran the event in 2:21.00, behind Waubonsie Valley’s Shakeia Pinnick (2:14.50) and Benet’s McKinzie Schulz (2:19.90) and was also sixth in the high jump.
Karlie Becker was fourth in the 200 dash (27.40).
