West Chicago, IL -

Seven people were hospitalized following the collapse of a warehouse on Fenton Street in West Chicago.

Commander Spencer Kroning with the West Chicago Police Department said the injuries were not life-threatening.

“About 30 people with minor injuries were treated at the scene or refused treatment,” he said.

Reports of the collapse came in shortly after 3 p.m., when a heavy storm moved through the area. The collapse was likely the result of strong winds. No fires were reported at the warehouse, Kroning said.

Traffic signals are dead throughout the area, and multiple power outages have been reported. Fallen tree branches were also reported, Kroning said.

“It seems like we’re getting more reports from the north side than the south side,” Kroning said. “But we’re getting quite a few reports from all around.”
