Three teens were arrested in connection with a five-day crime spree that included three vehicle thefts, burglaries and credit card fraud, police said.
Police arrested Matthew Slaughter, 18, of Geneva; Jessica Legan, 17, of St. Charles; and a 16-year-old juvenile for several incidents that took place in St. Charles and West Chicago between July 12 and July 14, according to police.
Slaughter and the juvenile were arrested at about 2 a.m. July 16 when police found them in the garage of West Chicago residence, according to the West Chicago Police Department.
The St. Charles Police Department said the arrest ended a five-day crime spree that began between July 12 and July 13 when a 2005 Ford 500 was stolen from a residence on the 1600 block of Rita Avenue in St. Charles, police said.
Two surveillance cameras later showed Slaughter and Legan in the stolen truck and using credit cards stolen from a vehicle on the 1700 block of Ronzheimer Avenue.
Geneva police located the stolen truck in Geneva, four blocks from Slaughter’s residence. Police have also implicated Slaughter in the July 13 theft of a 1999 Mercury Villager from the 1500 block of Ronzheimer Avenue and in the July 14 theft of 2005 Subaru WRX from a Maple Park residence. All three vehicles were recovered.
After Slaughter and the juvenile’s arrest, Legan turned herself in to St. Charles police.
Slaughter has been charged with three counts of possession of a stolen vehicle, residential burglary, credit card fraud and burglary from a motor vehicle.
Charges against Legan include forgery and unlawful use of a credit card. Charges against the juvenile are pending in the DuPage County Juvenile Court.
