The DuPage County State's Attorney's office has charged Brian Milnikel — a music director at St. James the Apostle Church in Glen Ellyn — and his roommate for possession of child pornography.

Milnikel, 45, and Christopher Kontopoulos, 20, both of 894 Nelli Court, Naperville, were charged after police executed a search warrant at their residence, Jan. 19 at 6:15 a.m.

During the execution of the search warrant several computers were seized and police found content consistent with illegal child pornography, Naperville police say.

Both men remain in custody.

As music director, Milnikel worked with adult and children's choirs. Naperville police are saying that there is nothing thus far to suggest that either Milnikel or Kontopoulos had any inappropriate physical contact with children.

Father John Ouper, Pastor of St. James, said Milnikel has been fired.

Ouper said there were always other people present during situations in which Milnikel was with children. "His movement with children was very minimal," Ouper said. He said Ouper did not teach a class in the church's school.

The parish has sent a letter to parents alerting them of Milnikel's arrest. "We're very saddened by all of this and we're also very shocked that his took place."
