Winfield Historical Society members will distribute coloring contest sheets during the first week of school in August for the group’s annual competition. The subject this year will be St. John’s Church burning. Society members’ current plans are to have a walk through town Sept. 6 during the Good Old Days festival, ending at Hedge’s Station about 10 or 10:30 a.m. Awards for the coloring contest and Passport Awards will follow the walk. The station will close after the presentation. Members who still are planning additional activities for the downtown area will be in the Good Old Days Parade on Sunday, Sept. 7, riding in a Model T. Next month, the 25th annual Winfield Historical Society Run will be held Saturday, Aug. 9.

Cruzin Winfield
After the success of Winfield Cruzin last year, the Winfield Chamber of Commerce proudly announces the event’s return.
It kicked off in June on Jewell Road immediately north of the railroad tracks and east of Winfield Road. At the launch, the event expanded into the parking lot at the Town Center. Winfield Cruzin participants were invited to bring their cars to the Town Center any time after 5 p.m. More than 20 cars were on display, which was a good start, reported Chamber Executive Director Rich Bysina. The event is within walking distance of its three sponsors, John’s Restaurant and Tavern, Caliendo’s Restaurant and Bar and Central DuPage Hospital. Winfield Cruzin will continue from 6 to 9 p.m. Mondays, July 7, 21 and Aug. 4 and 18. A special event will be offered in September during Good Old Days.
