Downers Grove Area Branch of the American Association of University Women accepting applications for Back-to-the-Books scholarships. Eligible applicants must be residents of Downers Grove, Westmont, Darien, Woodridge or Lisle who are returning to college after an absence of five or more years and are within two years of completing an undergraduate or graduate degree. Women who are half-time students and within one year of degree completion may apply and qualify for $1,000. Women who are full time students within one year of completing an associate degree may apply and qualify for $1,000, or if a half-time student qualify for $500. Other criteria include professional or vocational goals, financial need, educational achievement, volunteer activity and employment history. Completed applications must be received by Oct. 22.
