In addition to David Rogers’ popular Big Bugs Exhibition, the Morton Arboretum in Lisle will offer other family-friendly goings on.
Charmaine Anthony, an Oak Park jewelry artist who creates honey bees and other insects out of sterling silver, will show her botanical-inspired pieces and discuss how she makes her creations. A meet-the-artist session is from noon to 3 p.m. Saturday, May 24, in the Arboretum store. Then see artful presentations of insects and create your own buggy artworks in The Artful Insect — Family Activities session from 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday, May 24, and Sunday, May 25. Tours will be given from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. and 2 to 3 p.m.
Discover the beauty of tall-bearded irises that typically bloom from mid-May to mid-June at the 49th Annual Northern Illinois Iris Society Show from 11:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, May 24, and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday, May 25, at the Visitor Center. Society members will be available to answer questions and provide planting advice, and some iris varieties will be available for purchase.
