The Forest Preserve District of DuPage County will host children’s bike rodeo from 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday, May 17, at the Herrick Lake Forest Preserve in Wheaton.
Children ages 5 to 15 are invited to bring their bikes and helmets to join Forest Preserve District police officers at this free clinic for safety inspections and helmet-fitting tips.
Participants will be able to ride on a miniature course, including a trail-ride section for kids 9 and older, that will teach rules and etiquette for riding in the forest preserves. Children may also meet the district’s trail patrol volunteers, discover places to explore in DuPage County, and take home prizes.
Reservations are not needed for this free event. Herrick Lake Forest Preserve is on Butterfield Road in Wheaton, one mile west of Naperville Road. For information on the kids’ bike rodeo safety clinic, call (630) 871-6425 or visit www.dupageforest.com.
