Man charged with DUI
Ubaldo Carranza, 43, 1328 49th Ave., Cicero, was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol after being arrested at about 12:30 a.m. March 26 at the intersection of Harlem and Burlington avenues, according to reports.
Officers were on patrol when they observed a 1990 Pontiac go through a red light, according to reports. Carranza’s BAC was 0.185 percent, according to reports.
Teen charged with DUI
Corey Wickman, 18, 4146 S. Home Ave., Stickney was charged with DUI/zero tolerance after being arrested at about 5 a.m. April 4 in the 3500 block of First Avenue, according to reports.
Officers were on patrol and saw Wickman traveling 71 mph in a 40 mph zone, according to reports. Police said they asked for his license and insurance, but Wickman told them he did not have the documents.
Wickman said he was the designated driver and refused to take the field sobriety tests, police said. He later took a portable breath test, which registered a 0.121 percent blood alcohol content, according to reports.
Police said Wickman was charged with zero tolerance and not having a drivers license.
Brookfield
Drug possession alleged
Fernando Sandoval, 29, of Chicago, was charged with possession of marijuana after being arrested at about 11:15 p.m. March 25 in the 8600 block of 31st Street, according to reports.
Officers were traveling west on 31st Street and observed a vehicle to have the passenger side head lamp out and switch his high beams on when seeing officers, according to reports.
Sandoval was driving on a suspended license, police said. During a search of his vehicle, police found a bag containing 9.5 grams of marijuana under the front driver’s seat inside a cell phone box, according to reports. Police said a multi-colored glass pipe was also found in the front driver’s door.
Wash and Dry burglarized
The owner of Ashley’s Wash and Dry, 9016 47th Street, reported the business was broken into between 11 p.m. March 17 and 8:45 p.m. March 18, according to reports.
Police said the owner locked up the business March 17 and returned to the business the following day, unlocked the door leading to the employee area. After being inside for 15 minutes, he observed the employee door appeared to have been pulled from the door jam with an unknown tool, according to reports. The rear door leading to the back storage area of the business also appeared to have been tampered with, according to reports.
Police said no entry was made to the soap dispenser machine, and the pad lock to enter the machine still was in tact but $39.28 was taken from the cash register that was located on a shelf in the employee area.
Resisting arrest alleged
Amy Brady, 28, of Naperville, was charged with resisting a peace officer at about 5:30 p.m. April 4 in the 9100 block of Grant Avenue, police said.
Officers were called on a report of a possible impaired driver and later pulled Brady over, police said. Brady claimed said she had no identification, did not have her purse or the keys to the vehicle and she was waiting for her boyfriend, according to reports. Police said they ran her name and found she had an active warrant from DuPage County. The woman then tried to pull away from officers when they tried to take her into custody, police said.
The officers were able to get Brady’s hands behind her back and make the arrest, according to reports.
Woman charged with DUI
Samantha Graham, 33, 4121 Harlem Ave., Stickney, was charged with driving under the influence of drugs after being arrested at about 2 a.m. April 2 in the 8800 block of Ogden Avenue, according to reports.
While on patrol, officers noticed Graham turn east onto Ogden Avenue without using a turn signal, police said. Graham’s car also swerved across the double yellow line, according to reports.
Graham admitted to inhaling cocaine and ingesting heroin at her friend’s house an hour before she was stopped, according to reports. She failed field sobriety tests, police said.
La Grange
Bicycle reported missing
A bicycle was reported stolen in the 700 block of South 12th Avenue at about 5:15 p.m. March 27. Police said the bicycle was in the back yard of the residence at the time of the theft. The bicycle is valued at under $300, police said.
Westchester
Armed man robs gas station
A clerk at a Westchester gas station was robbed at gunpoint at about 10:45 p.m. March 28.
The clerk told police a man walked into the Westchester Shell, 10200 Roosevelt Road, and asked to see winning lottery numbers. As the clerk handed him a printout, the man took the gun out of his waste band, ordered the clerk to give him all the money in the register.
The man reached over the counter and grabbed an undetermined amount of cash after the clerk opened the cash drawer.
The gunman then ran out of the store in a northwest direction toward the railroad tracks behind the gas station, police said.
He was described as black, 35 to 40 years old with a thin build, wearing a black and red sweatshirt and a black skull cap.
