Bicycle stolen
A bicycle was reported stolen from a rack outside the Stone Avenue train station at about 6:45 p.m. May 7, according to police. The bicycle, valued at $500, was described as black with a green and black seat and mustache handlebars.
Condominiums burglarized
Two condominiums at the Beacon Place development in La Grange were burglarized between 8:30 a.m. and 3 p.m. May 4, according to police.
Police said front doors to both of the fifth-floor units, located across the hallway from each other, were forced open. Jewelry and watches of an undetermined value were reported stolen.
Satellite receiver taken
A satellite receiver and other items were reported stolen from a vehicle in the 900 block of Sixth Avenue at 4 p.m. May 3, according to police.
The unlocked vehicle had been parked in the driveway of a residence at the time of the theft.
Also missing was a bag containing maps and a calculator, police said.
WESTCHESTER
Man arrested after pawning
A man was arrested when he allegedly attempted to pawn a stolen compressor at a Stone Park pawnshop at 5 p.m. May 1, according to police.
Police said James Gipson, 25, of Broadview, was charged with theft of the Craftsman air compressor that was reported stolen from a Westchester garage in the 900 block of Westchester Boulevard March 31.
$5K reported missing
Police said $5,000 was reported missing from a home at about 4:30 p.m. May 4 in the 10800 block of Martindale Drive, according to police.
The homeowner told police she suspected employees of a cleaning service of taking the cash since they were the only other people who had access to the room where the money was kept, police said.
Laptop computer stolen
A laptop computer valued at $2,200 was reported stolen from a classroom at St. Joseph’s High School, 10900 W. Cermak Road, at 2 p.m. May 7, according to police.
A student told police a friend borrowed the Lenovo ThinkPad and left it in the classroom from where it was stolen.
RIVERSIDE
Battery alleged at RB
Ariell Howard, 17, of 3321 S. 59th Court, Cicero, was charged with disorderly conduct after being arrested at about 1:15 p.m. May 1 at Riverside Brookfield High School, 160 Ridgewood Road, according to reports.
Officers said they were called to RB for a fight involving two students, according to reports. Police said Assistant Principal John Passarella was holding Howard back as she attempted to lunge away from him and hit another student. Howard was able to grab the student’s sweatshirt and refused to let go.
The victim said when her class was over she heard Howard calling her name, saying she wanted to fight her, according to reports. Police said Howard pushed the victim repeatedly asking to fight.
Warrant leads to arrest
Butch Moore, 19, of 25 1/2 E. Burlington Ave., Riverside, was charged with obstructing justice and was found to have an active warrant out of McHenry County for domestic battery after being arrested at about 9 p.m. May 10 on Barrypoint Bridge, according to reports.
Moore was driving over Barrypoint bridge and made a wide turn onto Ogden Avenue without signaling, according to reports. Police said Moore was unable to show a license or insurance and gave the officer a false name. He later admitted to giving the wrong name and provided police with his correct information, according to reports.
BROOKFIELD
Man charged with DUI
Thomas Klaric, 48, 8123 White Ave., Lyons, was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol after being arrested at about midnight May 5 in the 3400 block of Maple Avenue, according to reports.
Police said Klaric made a right turn on Maple Avenue from 31st Street while the traffic light was red. After pulling Klaric over, police detected a strong odor of alcohol and slurred, mumbled speech, according to reports.
Klaric failed the field sobriety tests and his blood-alcohol content level was 0.109, according to reports.
Gasoline theft alleged
Jonathan Rus, 19, 1232 Gunderson Ave., Berwyn, and Thomas Michael Scianna, 18, 8661 Riverside Ave., Brookfield, were charged with theft and tampering with a car after being arrested at about 3:15 a.m. May 5 in the 9100 block of 26th Street, according to reports.
Police said they noticed a Mercury parked close to a Chevy pickup truck, and the passenger removed a tube from the gas tank of the pickup. Rus and Scianna drove east on 26th Street at a high rate of speed and when police pulled them over, officers could smell a strong odor of gasoline emanating from inside, according to reports.
Police said they saw a red, one-gallon container on the floor behind the passenger seat and a clear plastic tube sticking out from under the front passenger seat. Scianna said they Siphoned gas from the Chevy pickup, according to reports.
