RIVERSIDE
Man charged with DUI
Vincent Mamolella, 46, 32 E. Harding Ave., La Grange Park, was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol after being arrested at about 12:45 a.m. May 15 at Ogden and Miller avenues, according to reports.

Officers saw a car weaving and make a right turn from the center lane, according to reports. Police said when they pulled Mamolella over, he was unable to find his insurance information.
Mamolella refused the field sobriety and breathalyzer tests, according to reports.

He also was cited for failure to signal, no insurance, improper lane usage, improper turn and failure to yield for emergency vehicles, according to reports.

Drug possession alleged
Christopher Castreion, 21, 4401 W. Prescott Ave., Lyons, was charged with possession of marijuana after being arrested at about 3:30 a.m. May 16 in the 100 block of Longcommon Avenue, according to reports.

Police said they saw a vehicle sticking out of a driveway on Longcommon Avenue. Two people were sitting in the car, which was blocking a traffic lane. Both people said they were waiting for a friend, but officers smelled a strong odor of marijuana coming from the car, according to reports.

Castreion was searched by officers, and they found he had attached a bag of marijuana to his genitals, according to reports. More marijuana was found in the glove box, according to reports.
Police said Castreion had 3.63 grams in his possession.

BROOKFIELD
Woman faces DUI charge
Angelique Labiak, 23, 169 Quincy St., Riverside, was charged with drunken driving after being arrested at about 2:30 a.m.  May 9 in the 8800 block of Brookfield Avenue, according to reports.

Officers saw a black jeep traveling east with no lights on and swerving from left to right in the lane, according to reports. Labiak pulled over and scraped the passenger side tires against the curb, police said. Officers noticed a strong odor of alcoholic beverages coming from her breath, according to reports.

Labiak failed the field sobriety tests and her blood-alcohol content was 0.217, according to reports. Police said she was charged with improper lane usage and no brake or taillight.

Traffic stop yields arrest
James Vokurka, 51, of 4039 Konrad Ave., Lyons, was charged with possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia after being arrested at about 12:45 a.m. May 16  in Cheers sports bar, 8901 Burlington Ave., according to reports.

Officers were called to Cheers for a report that Vokurka was holding drugs, according to reports. Police said they were handed a prescription bottle containing marijuana, a silver metal smoking pipe and white pills.

A witness said he went to use the bathroom and saw Vokurka standing in the stall holding something. After being startled, Vokurka dropped the contents on the floor, according to reports.

While in custody, police said they found another prescription bottle in Vokurka’s backpack that contained eight pills of hydrocodone.

Vokurka had 1.2 grams of marijuana, a silver metal smoking pipe and 16 pills, which weighed 10.3 grams, according to reports.

LA GRANGE
Purse reported stolen
A purse containing a small amount of cash and credit cards was reported stolen from a car at 9:30 a.m. May 17. Police said a window was broken to get in the vehicle, which was parked on the street in the 300 block of Sixth Avenue.

Compressor reported missing
A compressor was reported stolen from an unlocked garage in the 200 block of La Grange Road at about 11 a.m. May 17. Police said there appeared to be no signs of a forced entry. The compressor is valued at about $150.

Concrete gargoyle taken
A lawn ornament was reported stolen from the front yard of home in the 300 block of Sixth Avenue sometime May 16. Police said the heavy, concrete gargoyle was valued at $100.

Boy had numchucks: police
A 16-year-old Batavia boy was arrested for unlawful use of a weapon for having a set of numchucks in a restaurant at 10:30 p.m. May 16.

Police said the boy, visiting a friend in La Grange, was in the McDonald’s, 100 La Grange Road, at the time when he began to demonstrate their use.

Numchucks are a pair of hardwood sticks joined by a chain or cord and used as a weapon. Police said the arrest will be handled within the department and will not require a court date.

Scam nets couple $100
Police are investigating a short change scam that tricked a cashier out of about $100 at 6:30 p.m. May 15.

A clerk at the McDonald’s, 100 La Grange Road, told police a couple came in and ordered food, then to asked the clerk to make change several times.

Police are reviewing a video tape as part of the investigation.

WESTCHESTER
Watch, lock box stolen
A watch and a lock box were reported stolen from a home in the 800 block of Hull Avenue at 12:30 a.m. May 12.

Police said the watch was located on a dresser in a bedroom of the home, and the lock box was stolen from another bedroom.

The window to a bedroom was a found forced open, police said.

Office door shattered
A door to an office suite was shattered between 9 and 11:30 p.m. May. 14. Police said a security guard reported the damage at 3 Westbrook Corporate Center, which is presently vacant. Damage is estimated at $500.

Gang graffiti reported
A gas pump hose was reported cut at the Citgo Gas Station, 1950 Mannheim Road, at about noon on May 15. Gang graffiti was also written on the front of the pump. Damage is estimated at $500.

GPS unit stolen from car
A motel guest reported a GPS unit stolen from a rental car at 6:15 a.m. May 15 at the Hampton Inn, 2222 Enterprise Drive.

Entry was gained after the driver’s door window and stole a $450 Medeon global positioning system unit.

Burglary reported
A DVD player was reported stolen from an audio visual cart in an office at 4:15 p.m. May 14.
An employee of Advocate Counseling, 10001 Roosevelt Road, told police he arrived at work shortly after 4 p.m. and found the front door open to the office suite. A television monitor was lying on the floor next to the door, police said.

A worker in an office across the hall said the door was open and lights were on when the worker arrived that morning. The DVD player is valued at $50.

Wallet, phone removed
A wallet and cell phone were reported stolen from an unlocked car at about 3:30 p.m. May 12.
Police said the car was parked at the Walgreens pharmacy, 10345 Roosevelt Road, at the time of the theft.

The wallet contained a state identification card, a driver’s license and credit cards. A cell phone and charger, and a Frank Thomas baseball jersey were also stolen.
Value of the stolen items was undetermined.
