Man charged with DUI
Joseph Goodwin, 48, 2232 S. Burr Oak Ave., North Riverside, was charged with aggravated DUI after being arrested at about 6 p.m. April 9 near 31st Street and Des Plaines Avenue, according to reports.
Police were dispatched to the intersection for a car accident, and a witness said a red Honda was traveling at a high rate of speed and rear-ended another vehicle, according to reports. Officers arrived on scene and saw Goodwin exit the car swaying significantly, police said. He had urinated in his pants, according to reports.
Goodwin’s speech was slurred to the point of incomprehension by officers, and he failed the field sobriety tests and refused to take a breathalyzer, police said.
Drug possession alleged
Richard Pikul, 45, of Elmhurst, was charged with possession with intent to deliver after being arrested at about 9:30 p.m. April 10 in the 0 to 100 block of Riverside Road, according to reports.
Officers saw a Dodge 4X4 traveling south on Riverside Road with expired registration, police said. When officers stopped the vehicle, they smelled a strong odor of burnt weed coming from the car, according to reports. Pikul said there was nothing illegal in his car, but officers located five plastic bags containing marijuana, police said.
Multiple pill bottles with no identification were located along with a glass pipe and a grinder, police said.
Pikul also was charged with possession of a controlled substance and possession of marijuana, according to reports.
