Bar owner in head with beer
Thomas Danza, 27, 2421 Bristol Ave., Westchester was charged with battery after being arrested at about 1:30 a.m. June 14 at Ryan’s Public House, 8942 Ogden Ave., according to reports.
Police said they were dispatched to the pub in regards to a fight, which officers broke up. The victim said he asked Danza to leave because he was being unruly, according to reports.
When Danza refused to leave the bar, the victim tried to escort him out, police said. Danza became irate and spat in the victim’s face, according to reports. Police said Danza picked up an empty beer bottle and hit the victim in the head several times before breaking it on his head, according to reports.
The victim had a red lump on the top of his head but refused medical treatment, according to reports.
LA GRANGE
Gutter stolen off house
A copper gutter was reported stolen from a home in the 1300 block of West 41st Street between June 5 and 6. The 12-foot section, located on the front of the house, is valued at $500, police said.
House window broken
A window to a home in the 200 block of West Hillgrove Avenue was reported broken at about 1:30 a.m. June 7.
Police said there were no signs as to how the window, valued at $500, was broken. The window faced Catherine Avenue.
Woman charged with theft
An Evergreen Park woman was charged with retail theft after allegedly stealing a pair of earrings valued at $1.50 from a store at 11 a.m. June 6.
Police were called to the Carousel Shop, 23 Calendar Court, after a clerk reported Elinor Hawkins-Anderson, 39, had returned an item after being confronted for stealing.
Police arrived and determined Anderson was wanted on three outstanding warrants. The earrings were found when she was searched by police.
Unlocked car burglarized
A laptop computer, projector and global positioning system were reported stolen from an unlocked car parked at a municipal parking lot at Madison and Harris avenues at 2 p.m. June 4.
Police said there were no signs of forced entry to the car. Also reported stolen were a Calvin Klein suit, a pair of shoes and a Sprint wireless card, police said. A loss amount was not provided by police.
WESTCHESTER
Woman charged with theft
A woman was charged with retail theft after allegedly taking items from Dominick’s, 3020 Wolf Road, at about 6:30 p.m. May 31, police said.
Store employees saw Amanda Frenden, 26, of Burbank take two bottles of laundry detergent, valued at $43 and leave the store without paying for them, police said. Upon leaving the store, she entered a red Oldsmobile and drove northbound on Wolf Road, police said.
Officers later pulled over her car at Cermak Road and Mayfair Avenue, police added.
Fur coat taken
An $8,000 full-length fur coat was stolen from a home between May 15 and June 1 in the 10300 block of Elizabeth Street.
The resident said she hosted a prom party May 22, a graduation party May 23 and a Memorial Day party May 25. She believes one of the guests may have taken the coat, police said.
Property defaced
A neighbor reported gang graffiti on his neighbor’s fence June 3 in the 1100 block of Bristol Avenue. Blue chalk was used on the fence, police added.
Man faces drug charges
A man was charged with possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia after being arrested at about 4 p.m. June 3 in the 900 block of Manheim Road, police said.
Jeffrey Dubilnske, 27, of Chicago allegedly had between 2.5 and 10 grams of marijuana, police said. He also was charged with unlawful use of a driver’s license, operating a vehicle with a suspended registration, unlawful use of a driver’s license and operating an uninsured motor vehicle, according to police.
Officers stopped Dubilnske’s car on Mannheim Road after a registration check revealed the registration was suspended for a mandatory insurance violation.
After Dubilnske was arrested for driving with a suspended license, police discovered two sandwich bags containing marijuana and other drug paraphernalia, police added.
Bicycle taken from garage
A bicycle was taken from the garage of a home in the 800 block of Bristol Avenue between June 4 and 5. The resident reported the garage door was left unlocked, police said.
Police: Man drove 100 mph
A man was charged with speeding more than 40 miles over the posted speed limit after being pulled over June 6 at 2:15 a.m. near Wolf and Roosevelt roads, police said.
Rafael Bahena, 21, of North Chicago made a left turn from Cermak Road onto Wolf Road, without yielding to an oncoming car on Cermak, according to police. When police tried to stop him, he drove down Wolf Road and reached speeds of more than 100 mph, police said.
Bahena also was charged with illegal transportation of open alcohol in a motor vehicle, failing to yield right-of-way turning left and operating an uninsured motor vehicle following a traffic stop, police said.
Man charged with DUI
A man was charged with aggravated drunken driving after being arrested at about 3 a.m. June 7 at Mannheim Road at Pelham Street, police said.
Roberto Diaz, 34, of Cicero was arrested after an officer saw him slumped over inside his car, which was stopped in traffic lanes on Mannheim Road at Pelham, according to police.
Diaz had a blood-alcohol level of 0.244 and failed a field sobriety test, police said.
He also was charged with operating a motor vehicle without a valid driver’s license, illegal transportation of open alcohol in a motor vehicle and improper parking/standing on a roadway, according to police. Diaz stated he has never had a driver’s license, police added.
