Riverside, IL -

Riverside Brookfield High School was evacuated Wednesday morning as a precaution after a fuse sparked in a stove vent in the cafeteria.

Assistant Principal Tim Scanlon said the school was evacuated at about 10:40 a.m. because a fuse in the exhaust fan shorted out. RB was evacuated for about 20 minutes, according to Scanlon, because fire officials had to go on the roof to check inside the exhaust fan hood to make sure a fire was inside.

Nobody was injured, and students and staff re-entered the building, 160 Ridgewood Road, Riverside, shortly after 11 a.m.
