Riverside Brookfield High School’s Superintendent/Principal Jack Baldermann’s son, along with 11 of his friends, were busted for underage drinking in the superintendent’s Riverside home.
Baldermann, who declined to comment on the charges, was not at home and was not cited.
Tyler Baldermann, 18, 151 Delaplaine Road, Riverside, was charged with consumption of alcohol by a minor after being arrested at about 10:50 p.m. May 2 in his residence, according to Riverside police.
Officers were dispatched to Baldermann’s home on a report of a possible underage drinking party and could see lights being turned off when they walked around the house, according to reports. Police said several subjects were seen inside of the house hiding behind pieces of furniture and one carrying a Busch beer can.
Officers knocked on the window and door to attempt to get one of the party-goers to open the door so police could make sure people inside were all right and make sure no one was consuming alcohol under the legal age, according to reports.
Police said they found an open window and entered Baldermann’s home. Officers split up covering the first, second and basement levels looking for people in the home, according to reports.
Paul Russell, 17, 3524 Morton Ave., Brookfield, was hiding in a closet on the second floor and would not listen to police orders to come out, according to reports.
Laisvunas Labanauskas, 20, 132 Quincy St., Riverside, was in another closet pushing the door closed to restrain officer’s access, according to reports.
Police said on the first floor, Tyler Baldermann; Nicholas Kenny, 18, 1315 E. 31st St., La Grange Park; Christopher Russell, 17, 3524 Morton Ave., Brookfield; Joseph Dennehy, 17, 2344 Lathrop Ave., Riverside; and Mark Becka, 20, 9015 Monroe St., Brookfield, were waiting with officers.
Large amounts of alcohol were found around the house, according to reports.
Labanauskas, who had a warrant out of DuPage County and Paul Russell were charged with resisting arrest and consumption of alcohol while Christopher Russell, Dennehy, Kenny, Baldermann and Becka were charged with consumption of alcohol by a minor, according to reports. Police said five underage girls received local ordinance citations for drinking.
Five other juvenile girls were cited for underage drinking, according to police.
