The La Grange Fire Department held its 2008 Fire Prevention Week Open House. Department technical rescue specialists held two live room fire demonstrations as well as performed a vehicle extrication using the "jaws of life."

Kevin Kopicki is the funeral director at Heritage Funeral Hame and has noticed an increase in cremation because it has become overly expensive to have a traditional burial. He has a new life urn, which is an urn that can have a color photo on the outside.

Westmont hosted a special “Cruisin’ Nights” to greet the teams from the Fireball Run Transcontinental Rally, some of whom arrived in legendary cars from feature film and television shows, such as Smokey & the Bandit, The Dukes of Hazzard, Back to the Future II, and Knight Rider. The event was held in Ty Warner Park at the corner of Plaza and Blackhawk Drives. Fireball Run, also known as The Race to Recover America’s Missing Children™, is one of the nation’s largest annual cross-country motoring events and unique in its efforts to aid in the recovery of America’s missing children.

A series of deadly incidents involving a strip club near West Chicago has prompted the DuPage County Board to consider banning alcohol at adult businesses, but the club’s owner said a complete ban will not prevent future problems.
