• Junior high and high school youth groups will resume on Sunday evenings beginning Sept. 7 at First Presbyterian Church of LaGrange, 150 S. Ashland Ave. The junior high meets Sundays from 5 to 6:15 p.m. on the third floor at the church. High school meets Sundays from 6:15 to 7:30 p.m. on the third floor. • First Presbyterian Church of LaGrange, 150 S. Ashland Ave., is resuming its Sunday morning Adult Education classes on Sunday, Sept. 7. “Who is the God of the Bible?” is the title of the first series. Each class is independent and all are invited to attend each week or when able. Each Sunday, the class is offered at 8:45 a.m. and ends before the 10 a.m. worship service. • Western Springs Baptist Church Women’s Ministry invites all women to hear Mary Welchel at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 9. She will be speaking on the topic “Mary of Bethany-The First New Testament Theologian.” The church is at 4475 Wolf Road in Western Springs. • Berkeley-Hillside Presbyterian Church, 5207 Ridge Ave., Hillside, will resume its children’s educational programs on Rally Day, Sunday, Sept. 7. Seventh- and eighth-graders will gather at 9 a.m. for class. Everyone will worship together at 10 a.m., with children ages 3 through sixth grade being dismissed to attend class at 10:15 a.m. A silent auction with refreshments will be held from 11:15 a.m. to noon to raise money for the church. • Good Shepherd Our Redeemer Lutheran Church, 6707 W. 19th St., Berwyn, will hold their fifth annual Garage Sale Friday, Oct. 10, and Saturday, Oct. 11. The sale will take place from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. each day. A variety of items for sale will include clothing, jewelry, electronics, household items, glassware, collectibles, toys and many other interesting items. Donations for the sale are being accepted at the church from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 7, and Wednesday, Oct. 8. For more information, call (708) 788-9054.

• Ascension Lutheran Church, 400 Nuttall Road, Riverside, will hold a rummage sale Friday, Sept. 5 and Saturday, Sept. 6. The sale will feature furniture, bikes, good clothes, kitchenware, books, records and baked goods. The sale will be from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday and from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday.

• Ascension Lutheran Church, 400 Nuttall Road, Riverside, is holding its Rally Day Sept. 7. It will be held the same day it resumes its Sunday school and adult forum. The Sunday school meets at 9 a.m. and will be using “akaloo,” a web-based curriculum designed to develop children as followers of Christ. Also on this Sunday, Ascension will resume its schedule of two services at 8 and 10 a.m. During the 10 a.m. service Andy Tecson and his ensemble will lead the worship with his “Jazz Mass.” After worship the congregation will hold its annual picnic in the church garden, including games and activities for children. • Rally Day at Hope Lutheran Church, 6455 Joliet Road, Countryside, will be held Sunday, Sept. 7. This year they will use Concordia’s “Growing in Christ” materials. Hope’s 9:30 a.m. worship service will be followed by Sunday school and Bible classes at 10:45 a.m. After classes, an ice cream social and lunch will be served.
