Best-selling author and Academy Award-winning actress Patty Duke will share her personal experience about bipolar disorder and depression at a free event at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 7, at Frank Lloyd Wright’s Unity Temple in Oak Park. The event is co-sponsored by Pillars, a nonprofit social service organization in La Grange Park.
Duke’s presentation — aimed at helping raise awareness of the importance of mental health services and a commitment to the elimination of the stigma associated with mental health issues — will be followed by a post-event reception and book signing.
“We are so thrilled to have the renowned Emmy and Oscar awarded actress, who is a passionate advocate for mental health awareness be part of our anti-stigma campaign,” stated Lisa DeVivo, Executive Director for the Community Mental Health Board of Oak Park Township.
