Just 50 years have passed since Divine Providence School in Westchester opened its doors, and school administrators have planned an anniversary celebration in September to mark the milestone.
Divine Providence opened on Sept. 3, 1958. At that time, 251 pupils attended in first grade through sixth grade.
Instead of celebrating the anniversary on Wednesday, it will be commemorated starting with a 9:30 a.m. mass Sept. 21. A reception in the school gym, and a school open house, will be hosted after the service.
