As of 1:30 p.m., Yorktown Shopping Center was still filled with Black Friday shoppers.
The Lombard facility had traffic controllers in the parking lots to help limit congestion as people attempted to find spots. Laura Setar, who was shopping with her two daughters, said she had to park far away from the stores.
“Parking was difficult,” Setar said. “We stole a spot. We went down the (lane) the wrong was, but it was still like two miles away. We had to park far away.”
Setar said that she shops every year on Black Friday but doesn’t get up too early because the most sought-after items are usually gone within a short amount of time.
