The parking lots at Geneva Commons shopping center are still packed after the morning rush, but the Black Friday crowds are not daunting for even the most novice shopper.
Lew Zanoni of St. Charles said he is not normally one to be out chasing the sales on the day after Thanksgiving, but he had two hours to kill. While the stores have been filled with customers, the crowds have not been that bad, he said
That seems to be the sentiment from many out and about at the several dozen stores and restaurants in the shopping center on Randall Road.
“It was a pain,” said Tina Romano of Yorkville, who had gone shopping Friday morning and was at Geneva Commons in the afternoon. “But I don’t think it was that crazy.”
Still, no Black Friday would be complete without horror stories of long lines and irritable customers.
Terri Romanchak’s husband went out in the morning and got caught up in the crunch.
“He left one store because the lines were too long,” said Romanchak, who is visiting from Pittsburgh for the holiday weekend. “I don’t think there are any tricks around Black Friday. Just grin and bear it.”
