OUTLOOK
The DVC is never lacking talent, and 2007 seemed to put an exclimation point at the end of that statement. Three teams — Naperville North, Glenbard North and Wheaton Warrenville South — all made it to the IHSA state finals last season in Champaign.
 

Naperville North beat fellow conference-foe Glenbard North for the Class 8A state title, while Wheaton Warrenville South was runner-up to Lake Zurich in Class 7A, snapping a 27-game winning streak.
Depite key losses, all three teams are poised to once again be a force this season. The teams

chasing them are no slouches either, making the DVC again one of the premiere conferences in the state.
 

Five DVC teams in all made the playoffs in 2007. Naperville North is led by returning running back Nick Mlady, Wheaton South has a trio of top talent back in running backs Peter Jarrett and Mike Olp and linebacker Pat Dansdill and Glenbard North’s top two offensive weapons, quarterback Evan Watkins and Tyler Doll, return.
 

Wheaton North, under first-year head coach Joe Wardynski (the WWS defensive coordinator the last four years), has several returning starters, including running back Mike Trumpy and quarteback Taylor Graham. Naperville Central is another team which could be in the mix.
