The Lombard Police Department has announced it will be conducting  patrols throughout the Labor Day weekend to crack down on drunken drivers and will conduct a roadside safety checkpoint Friday, Sept. 5.

Glenbard East High School will hold a reception on Tuesday, Sept. 2 for Brian Shaw, its new director of bands.

The schools in Lombard Elementary School District 44 will each host a parent orientation later this month and in September.

A Kane County jury convicted Shurron J. Clark, 19, of Lombard of aggravated battery to a teacher and set his bail at $50,000 Thursday after Clark bumped a male teacher in the chest at a trade school in Aurora.

Not only did Lombard police issue 730 tickets to those not wearing seat belts during the two weeks of seat belt enforcement checkpoints, they said they potentially prevented other crimes from being committed.

Elmhurst police are investigating an accident that occurred between a Chevrolet Astro van and a Lexus sedan in front of the McDonald's at 190 E. Butterfield Road in Elmhurst on Tuesday afternoon.

Gabriela Dawson, 20, of Decatur was killed Monday night in Villa Park after crashing into a tree during a police pursuit.

An armed robbery was reported in Lombard at about 3:45 p.m. Feb. 10 at a business in the 400 block of East Route 38, police said.
