Elmhurst, IL -

A train collided with a sport utility vehicle in Elmhurst after a Lakemoor woman abandoned it on the tracks the night of Oct. 16, police reports said.

Stephanie Mantz, 23, of 515 Autumn Blvd., Lakemoor, was arrested at 11:42 p.m. and charged with two counts of driving under the influence, driving without insurance, driving off the roadway and trespass to railroad property after leaving her Ford SUV on the Union Pacific tracks at Geneva Street.

According to the report, Mantz called 911 and told police her vehicle was on the tracks unoccupied but she was not sure where she was. Police then found her “highly intoxicated,” according to the report.

Police later found her vehicle after it was hit by a train. Mantz admitted to driving the vehicle, and then was charged after taking a breathalyzer.
