Concert pianist Robert Vanderschaaf and Matthew Agnew, principal cellist with the Elgin Symphony Orchestra, will provide classical interludes between three courses at Niche restaurant in Geneva, kicking off a series of special events.
“(Vanderschaaf and Agnew) are wonderful musicians,” said Larry Dieffenbach of Geneva, who coordinates the concert series.
The duo’s program will open with the “Suite Populaire Espagnole” by Manuel de Falla.
“They are lighter-hearted pieces,” said Vanderschaaf, noting the piano imitates the guitar.
He said the program also includes a sonata by Bach, the first movement of a sonata by Franck, the “Allegro Appassionato” of Saint-Saens, and a short work by Debussy.
Niche next hosts The Chef’s Collaborative Dinner benefiting the Geneva Green Market’s chef demonstrations. Niche Executive Chef Jeremy Lycan, Dave Nelson of Nosh, Kevin Bozis of The Spice House and Matt Lennert of Moveable Feast will join forces to prepare a six-course meal. Louis Kapscandy from Kapscandy Family Winery and Grand Cru Imports will team with Niche Sommelier Jody Richardson to do the wine pairing.
