Summer is the best time of year to take the family out to a drive-in. Once again this year, thanks to the efforts of a local church, you can save on gas and experience a drive-in movie right here in Villa Park.

A great new business has set up shop in Villa Park. The Children’s Art Studio opened recently at 217 S. Villa Ave. and is a great addition to the Villa Avenue business district.
Owner Carly Huegelmann, a Villa Park resident, said the location is perfect.

There’s still time to sign the kids up for camps to keep them busy and active this summer. Both Villa Park and Oakbrook Terrace are offering camps.

As part of last week's column, I mentioned that the Lauren Kiefer Foundation was handing out its first scholarships and that I would name the winners at a later date. The American Wind Band will present a free concert at 3 p.m. Sunday, May 18, in the Anderson Theatre at the Heritage Center, 1S325 Ardmore Ave., Oakbrook Terrace. This is one of the five free concerts the band performs each year.

The Villa Park Youth Baseball Association has been offering area kids the opportunity to play what’s often called “America’s Sport” for well more than 50 years, and this season is no different. The league opened its 2008 season last Saturday, April 27, on a windy and cold day.
