DuPage County Board member Jim Healy, R-5th District, of Naperville, has been appointed vice chairman of the national transportation committee for the National Association of Counties.
As vice chairman, Healy will be a spokesman on transportation issues for counties across the U.S. before both Congress and the U.S. Department of Transportation.
When making the appointment, NACo President Don Stapley of Maricopa County, Ariz., said: “For the last six years, Jim Healy has progressively taken on a larger and more prominent role on transportation issues at NACo.”
Healy has served on several transportation sub-committees at NACo and is a member of the board of directors for the National Association of Regional Councils. He was recently invited by the U.S. Department of Transportation to serve on several transportation roundtables.
NACo is the only national organization that represents county governments in the U.S. Its membership totals more than 2,000 counties, representing more than 80 percent of the nation’s population.
