Morton softball varsity head coach Tom Eukovich notified the District 201 school board on Wednesday night that 2008-09 was his final season.
The Morton West graduate (class of 1973) began working in the Mustangs' softball program during the 1984-85 school year.
During his seven seasons as varsity head coach, Eukovich went 159-80 with five regional titles, five 20-plus win seasons and a West Suburban Gold Conference championship in 2005.
"My goal was to keep the tradition going," Eukovich said. "I wanted to win and I wanted the kids to enjoy themselves."
Morton earned its third straight regional championship in 2009.
"We really hate to see him go," said the Mustangs' athletic director Steve Lemon. "He has done great things for Morton softball. It's going to be tough to fill his shoes."
