The Berwyn Fire Department will begin flushing fire hydrants from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday, Oct. 13, ending Oct. 24.

Hydrants will be flushed Mondays through Fridays, according to the fire department.

Residents might notice discoloration in tap water when workers flush hydrants in their neighborhood, the fire department said. Residents should turn on their faucets until the water runs clear. Run the water from the faucet in the lowest level of the house, and do not do wash clothes during hydrant flushing in your neighborhood, fire officials said.

On Monday, Oct. 13, hydrants will be flushed south of the Burlington Northern Santa Fe railroad tracks, on the streets between East and Ridgeland avenues. These are 32nd Street, Fairfield Avenue, 33rd Street, Sinclair Avenue and 34th Street.

Hydrants also will be flushed Monday, Oct. 13 in an area north of the BNSF railroad tracks on 26th Parkway between 26th Street and the IC railroad tracks, on 26th Place between Home Avenue and the IC railroad tracks, on Riverside Drive between 22nd Street and Harlem Avenue, on 29th Street between Kenilworth Avenue and Wisconsin Avenue on 29th Place between Oak Park Avenue and Wisconsin Avenue, on 30th Street and 30th Place between Oak Park Avenue and Home Avenue, and on 31st Street between Oak Park Avenue and Home Avenue.

Hydrants also will be flushed Monday, Oct. 13 between East Avenue and Ridgeland Avenue on 26th Place, 27th Street, 27th Place, 28th Street and 28th Place.

Hydrants will be flushed Tuesday, Oct. 14, on Oak Park Avenue and Euclid Avenue.

On Wednesday, Oct. 15, they will be flushed on Wesley, Clarence and East avenues.

On Thursday, Oct. 16, hydrants will be flushed on Scoville, Gunderson and Elmwood avenues.

On Friday, Oct. 17, hydrants will be flushed on Ridgeland, Cuyler and Highland avenues.

Hydrants will be flushed Monday, Oct. 20, on Harvey and Lombard avenues.

Hydrants will be flushed Tuesday, Oct. 21, on Grove and Kenilworth avenues.

Hydrants will be flushed Wednesday, Oct. 22, on Clinton and Home avenues.

Hydrants will be flushed Thursday, Oct. 23, on Wenonah and Wisconsin avenues.

On Friday, Oct. 24, hydrants will be flushed on Maple and Harlem avenues.

Fire officials said responses to emergency calls may alter this schedule.
