The Berwyn Gateway, a city-led development project at the northeast corner of Cermak Road and Harlem Avenue, also will include a Chipotle Mexican Grill.

The information was first revealed by Timothy Hague, co-owner of Keystone Ventures, the project's developer, during a groundbreaking ceremony earlier today.

Artists’ rendering of the project seen on fencing outside the property also shows a Five Guys restaurant, but city officials could not confirm or deny that the city was in negotiations with the growing national burger chain.

However, two major restaurant chains have signed letters of intent to open locations within the project area, but officials would not reveal names until those businesses sign leases.

Chipotle will join Buffalo Wild Wings, a Verizon Wireless retail outlet and a Vitamin Shoppe in the yet-to-be-constructed project.

Hague said the completed plaza will include four uniquely designed buildings centered around an outdoor pedestrian space that will give each restaurant a large area of outdoor seating.

Mi Tierra, the Mexican restaurant that was forced out of their location for the project has declined to exercise an option that would give them a space in the plaza and will not be returning to the plaza, Griffen said.

According to Griffen, the Berwyn Development Coproration is working with the owners of Mi Tierra in hopes of bringing them into a different location in Berwyn.
