• NuMark Credit Union in Joliet dressed in Chicago Cubs gear Aug. 15 to help collect donations for Derrek Lee’s 1st Touch Foundation. A total of $571.60 was collected from staff and members. Lee originally started the 1st Touch Foundation to build an academic youth center, however that changed when his daughter Jada was diagnosed with Lebers Congenital Amaurosis, an extremely rare disease that causes severe vision loss and blindness. Because a cure has not yet been found, he decided to start Project 3000 in an effort to find 3000 people in North America afflicted with this disease. The mission is to help researchers find a cure. For information on Lee’s foundation, visit www.1sttouch.org. NuMark Credit Union also has an office in Countryside. For information, visit www.numarkcu.org.
