The Maria SS. Lauretana festival will celebrate its 111th year with a four-day festival at the parking lot of Morton West High School, 2400 Home Ave., from Friday through Monday.
This will be the festival’s 50th year in Berwyn. The festival grounds had to be moved from the Cermak Plaza parking lot, the traditional site of the festival, because of construction at the incoming Meijer department store.
Food, rides, drinks and music will be available throughout the festival, which opens at 4 p.m. Friday and Saturday, 9:15 a.m. Sunday and 3:30 p.m. Monday.
At 9 p.m. Friday, 1960s rockers The New Invaders will perform. Saturday night will lead with a torchlight procession at 7:30 p.m., then classic rock band ARRA performing at 9 p.m.
Sunday morning, the procession of the faithful will begin at the Shrine tent, with a mass following featuring Bishop Lawrence Sabitini at 10:30 a.m. The procession resumes at 3:30 p.m., with the image of the Madonna.
At both 5 and 8 p.m. Sunday, the flight of the angels are scheduled. A fireworks display will follow at 9 p.m.
On Monday, the festival will open at 3:30 p.m. and will feature authentic artists from Italy.
