Spanish-language translators available at property assessment appeal workshop

Spanish-language translators will be available during a workshop this week to help property owners try to reduce their property assessments.
The Democratic Committee of Berwyn is hosting a property tax workshop at 6 p.m. Thursday at VFW Post 2378, 1535 Harlem Ave., Berwyn.
Property owners are asked to bring a copy of their most recent tax bill and closing statements. The deadline by which to file appeals of the 2008 property assessment is Friday, Dec. 5. Taxes based on the 2008 property assessment are payable in 2009.
The workshop session is hosted by Berwyn Alderman Robert J. Lovero, 7th Ward, and North Berwyn Park District Commissioner Rafael Avila, according to the Democratic Committee of Berwyn.
Cook County Board of Review commissioners Joseph Berrios and Larry Rogers, Jr., are expected to attend the meeting to answer questions, as well as DCOB outreach coordinators David Avila and Elizabeth Pechous. For more information call David Avila at (708) 484-2578.
