Saints win regional behind Niemiec's low score

St. Charles, IL -
On a day when breaking 80 was a struggle, Jenny Niemiec carded a superb 77 to win the title at the Class AA Prairie Ridge regional while also leading St. Charles East's girls golf team to a title.
The Saints cruised to the title with a 339, while St. Charles North earned a team bid to Monday's sectional at Ingersoll in Rockford with a 357. Prairie Ridge (372) finished a distant third but also eared a sectional berth.
Nicole Rae and Kate VenHorst carded 87s behind Niemiec and Rebecca Norris fired an 88 to round out East's scoring contingent.
Leslie reading (95) and Paige Jordan (105) also played well for the Saints.
ST. CHARLES NORTH
The North Stars continued their solid season with a trip to Monday's sectional tournament.
Marin Beagley paced North with an 82, followed closely by Ariana Furrie with an 83. K.K. Barr (93) and Jodyn McFarlane (99) rounded out the Stars' scoring quartet. Marissa Fencl (107) and Grace Jennejahn (112) also played and will move on with the team to the sectional tourney.
