
Drug possession charges
- Peter W. Steel, 22, and Douglas W. Jensen, 17, both of 2020 Fairfax Road, were charged with possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia at about 9:45 p.m. April 28 after police allegedly caught them smoking marijuana in a car in the parking deck on the 100 block of Illinois Street.
- Nathan D. Johnson, 25, of Winfield was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia after a police officer allegedly observed him lighting a glass pipe while driving and pulled him over on the 100 block of Smith Road.
Retail theft charges
- Himanshu S. Trivedi, 43, of West Chicago was charged with retail theft for allegedly stealing about $20 worth of clothing from Kohl’s, 3840 E. Main St., at about 3 p.m. May 31.
- Marcela Calderon, 28, of West Chicago was charged with felony retail theft for allegedly stealing more than $275 worth of clothing from Kohl’s, 3840 E. Main St., at about 1:30 p.m. June 22.
- Eva Arellano, 42, of West Chicago was charged with retail theft for allegedly stealing about $100 worth of clothing, perfume and jewelry from Kohl’s, 3840 E. Main St., at about 11:45 a.m. June 26.
Property damage reported
- A wire fence and a portion of fiber optic cable from a wooden spool were cut by an unknown person sometime between 2:30 p.m. June 19 and noon June 23 at AT&T, 2020 Production Drive. The damage to the fence will cost about $300 to repair, according to police reports.
- Graffiti was reported on the sign at Fairview Park, South 19th and Oak streets, at about 1:30 p.m. June 29.
- An unknown subject damaged the sign at Taste of Himalayas, 110 N. Third St., between 9 p.m. June 21 and 4 p.m. June 23.
DUI charges
- Juan Mendoza, 42, 1626 Ronzheimer Ave., was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol and improper lane use after a traffic stop at about 1:45 a.m. June 27 on the 200 block of South Fourth Avenue.
- Matthew M. Rowland, 23, of Elburn was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, operating an uninsured vehicle and improper lane use after a traffic stop at about 1 a.m. June 25 on the 1600 block of West Main Street.
Trespassing charges
- Al S. Smith, 19, 1326 Indiana St., was charged with criminal trespass to land at about 1:30 p.m. June 29 for allegedly entering the Cumberland Green Co-op property on the 1700 block of Cumberland Green Drive after being banned from the property.
- Maple Park residents Cody D. Townsend, 17, and Robert A. Baldwin, 18, were charged with trespassing on state-supported property at about 11:45 p.m. June 29 for allegedly jumping a fence at Pottawatomie Park, 8 North Ave., and taking a paddle boat out on the Fox River. The boat became caught after going over the dam and could not be recovered because of strong currents, according to police reports.
Man charged with underage drinking
Philip A. Watkins, 19, 201 N. Taylor Road, was charged with consumption of alcohol by a minor at about 11:30 p.m. June 20 after someone reported an underage drinking party at his apartment. Watkins was the only underage person consuming alcohol, according to police reports.
Crash leads to traffic charges
Two Sycamore residents were charged with traffic offenses after a car crash at about 6 p.m. June 29 on the first block of North Second Street. Roberto Herrera, 48, was charged with failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident and driving without a valid license. Gustavo Herrera, 25, was cited for allowing an authorized person to drive.
Thefts reported
- An unknown offender allegedly stole $95 and a pair of socks from Stein Mart, 3619 E. Main St., at about 9 p.m. June 4 through a “quick change” scam.
- About 60 feet of copper wire, worth about $40 per foot, was reported stolen from St. Charles Public Works, 22 Devereaux Way, between 3 p.m. June 19 and 2 p.m. June 29. An unknown person cut fence fasteners to access the lot, according to police reports.
- An unlocked mountain bike was reported stolen from the patio of a home on the 1700 block of Cumberland Drive between 11 a.m. May 30 and 9:30 a.m. May 31.
- An unknown driver left Phillips 66, 1660 W. Main St., at about 3:45 p.m. June 22 without paying for about $56 worth of gas she had pumped into a 2006 Lexus.
Motor vehicle burglary
- A cell phone worth about $200 was reported stolen from an unlocked car in a parking lot on the 1600 block of Covington Court between 7 p.m. June 30 and 10 a.m. the next day.
- A GPS unit worth $125 and a cell phone charger worth $25 were reported stolen between 4 p.m. June 20 and 7 a.m. June 22 from an unlocked car parked in a driveway on the 3000 block of Glacier Court.
Man charged with battery
Paulino Uriostegui-Gutierrez, 27, 1701 Covington Court, was charged with battery in connection with a fight that took place at about 9:30 p.m. June 22 inside Lundeen’s Liquors, 137 S. 16th St.
