A West Chicago man became an uninvited guest at a St. Charles home on Halloween.

Francisco A. Felix-Moreno, 26, of West Chicago is charged with resisting a peace officer, aggravated battery to a police officer and criminal trespass to a residence after walking into a St. Charles apartment while a family was talking in their living room around 6 p.m. Saturday.

Moreno, who did not know the family, entered the home without permission, police say. The family consisted of a married couple and two children along with another relative.

Moreno was immediately told to leave, according to reports, but ignored the requests and began to walk around the apartment. The husband eventually grabbed a beer bottle from Moreno, lured him out of the apartment and called the police, officers report. Upon arrival of the police, the family positively identified Moreno as the suspect.

As the officer approached Moreno, he attempted to flee into another building, police said. The officer ordered him to stop and asked for identification. As the officer interviewed Moreno, he tried to grab his ID card back several times, according to reports.

Moreno then grabbed the officer by the throat and began choking him, police said. The officer struck Moreno several times in the head until he was released, according to reports. Moreno was then taken into custody without further incident.

During the struggle, the officer suffered an injury to his left thumb. Moreno was taken to Delnor-Community Hospital for treatment of facial injuries. The officer’s left hand was also treated.

Moreno is currently being held in custody at the Kane County Correctional Facility on $50,000 bond.
