Police announce Fourth of July parking restrictions

St. Charles, IL -

The St. Charles Fourth of July fireworks will be held at about 9:30 p.m. Saturday at Pottawatomie Park.

To accommodate the large volume of traffic, additional parking restrictions will be posted and in effect on North Second Avenue from Iroquois Avenue to Main Street, North Third Avenue from

Johnor Avenue to Main Street and Iroquois, Bent, Fulton, Park, Chestnut, State and Cedar avenues in the areas surrounding the park.

Vehicles parked in designated no-parking zones will be ticketed and towed.

St. Charles police will be posted at all major intersections on North Fifth Avenue and on Main Street to assist pedestrian and vehicle traffic after the fireworks.

No left turn signs will be posted and in effect for southbound traffic on North Second and Third avenues at Main Street until the exiting traffic is cleared from the park and surrounding areas.

Police will be actively monitoring Route 31 to make sure no one parks or stops along the highway. The bicycle bridge will be closed at 9 p.m., but will be accessible after the fireworks display.

Motorists should be aware there will be heavy traffic before and after the fireworks display and to expect long delays. Alternative routes of travel should be considered.
