Four of its touchdowns covered more than 10 yards and a fifth nearly covered the whole field as St. Charles East cruised to a 42-3 win Friday night in St. Charles over Upstate Eight Conference foe South Elgin.
On St. Charles East’s (5-2, 4-1) first play from scrimmage, starting quarterback Dan White ran for a 58-yard touchdown to begin the scoring.
South Elgin (2-5, 1-3 UEC) responded well and had a 1st down at the Saints’ 11-yard line. Two incomplete passes followed and the third was caught by St. Charles East linebacker Pat Friel, who returned it 96 yards for a 14-0 Saints’ lead.
Senior Wes Allen (23 carries, 199 yards), who just missed his fourth straight 200-yard game, made it 21-0 Saints with his 14-yard touchdown run on the second play of the second quarter. He added a 1-yard touchdown run midway through the quarter.
The Storm’s only points came with 10:10 left in the third on a 33-yard field goal by David Reisner.
Allen’s 10-yard run midway through the third made it 35-3 St. Charles East and added a 31-yard scoring run early in the fourth.
South Elgin junior Josh Smith had game-high totals of seven receptions and 132 receiving yards.
