An 18-year-old Wayne man charged with reckless homicide and felony drunken driving in connection with a fatal crash in St. Charles did not enter a plea at a court hearing this week.
The arraignment for Onofrio J. Lorusso, 4N891 Honey Hill Circle, was postponed until Wednesday. Defendants typically plead not guilty when they are arraigned.
Onofrio was driving on the 3100 block of Royal Fox Drive shortly before 3:30 a.m. June 14 when he lost control of his sport utility vehicle, which went off the road and became wedged between two trees. Cameron Godee, 17, of West Chicago was killed in the crash, and two other passengers were hospitalized.
At the hospital after the crash, Onofrio’s blood-alcohol level was nearly three times the legal limit of .08, and he tested positive for a chemical found in marijuana, authorities said.
The recent St. Charles East High School graduate remains free on $50,000 bond, but must wear an electronic monitor.
