The Kane County Health Department has scheduled a clinic to serve children ten and younger who require a second, or booster, dose of the H1N1 vaccine.

The appointment-only clinic will be held from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Saturday at Elfstrom Stadium at the Kane County Events Center on Kirk Road in Geneva.

The clinic is intended to serve children who received their initial dose of the vaccine at Health Department Clinics on Oct. 26 through Nov. 5. Parents should receive a post card in the mail reminding them to schedule an appointment for the second dose.

Children younger than ten who received their first shot after Nov. 5 can schedule an appointment through the call center for a time that is convenient for them.

The vaccine shortage has been easing, according to the Health Department, and supplies are being distributed to health care providers throughout Kane County.

The Health Department suggests residents check with their personal health care providers to see if the vaccine is available through them.
