St. Charles will seek three Kane County grants totaling $220,000 to fund various projects in 2010.

City officials said at Monday night’s Nov. 23 government services committee meeting that the funding is contingent upon approval from Kane County.

The city is seeking $20,000 in Small Cities Grant money for the downtown sign program, $100,000 in Community Development Funds for the first phase of the Walnut Drive reconstruction, and $100,000 from the Riverboat Fund Grant Program to fund the first phase of the Bob Leonard Riverwalk extension.

For the 2010-11 fiscal year budget, the projects’ costs are tentatively planned to total $442,000, including $22,000 for the downtown sign program, $180,000 for the Walnut Drive reconstruction and $280,000 for the Bob Leonard Riverwalk extension.
