The invasive Emerald Ash Borer bug was only confirmed in eight more trees on the southwest side of town during the month of October in St. Charles, according to Monday night's Government Services Committee meeting.
EAB, a beetle native to Asia, is extremely destructive to ash trees. The city, much like many other cities across the United States, has been trying to fight off infestation of the EAB species.
Peter Suhr, public services manger for St. Charles, said they've focused a lot on the fall planting season. Suhr said they have planted 375 new trees and will now focus more on trimming and removal of trees affected by EAB.
Suhr said future reports are more likely to see an influx of EAB.
