Achievements

• Alexander Falls of Batavia, Derek Hassler of Geneva and Joseph Pittner of St. Charles have been selected to sing in the 2007-2008 edition of the Millikin Men.

Twenty-five voices strong, the Millikin Men’s Choir is made up of first-year students who sing a broad variety of repertoire. Falls is a commercial music major and a graduate of Batavia High School. Hassler is a music major and a graduate of Geneva Community High School. Pittner is a music major and a graduate of St. Charles North High School.

•  Army National Guard Pfc. Bryan Cross has graduated from Basic Combat training at Fort Sill, Lawton, Okla. During the nine weeks of training, the soldier studied the Army mission and received instruction and training exercises in drill and ceremonies, Army history, core values and traditions, military courtesy, military justice, physical fitness, first aid, rifle marksmanship, weapons use, map reading and land navigation, foot marches, armed and unarmed combat, and field maneuvers and tactics. He is the grandson of Andree Muns of Indianapolis, Ind., and nephew of Marty Anderson of Batavia. Cross is a 2005 graduate of Mooseheart High School.

•  Area residents were among 75 Aurora University sophomores inducted into AU's chapter of Phi Eta Sigma national honor society Nov. 3. The society recognizes freshman academic achievement. Aurora University's chapter, founded in 1990, is among 300 chapters nationwide. Candidates must be full-time students for three terms and earn a 3.5 grade point average on a 4.0 scale for at least one term. Students inducted were: Brittany Starrett of Batavia and Kristen Rasmussen of St. Charles.

• Rosary High School has announced its first quarter honor roll. First honors are a GPA of 3.6 or higher, and second honors are a GPA between 3 and 3.599.

• Mackenzie Travers  of St. Charles recently obtained an acting role in the DePauw University theatre production of Medieval Tales. The production was a collection of three plays not intended to fit together as a single theatrical piece.  Travers graduated from St. Charles North High School in 2006.
• James Mitchell of St. Charles has been named to the Columbia College in Columbia, Mo. dean's list for the August session 2007. To be named to the dean's list a student must have completed 12 semester hours and achieved a grade point average of 3.5 or greater on a 4.0 scale.
