Mystery event for all middle school students in Tri-Cities
Middle School Mystery Night is an after-hours, mini-mystery program exclusively for sixth- to eighth-graders starting at 6:30 p.m. Friday, March 9, at the Batavia Public Library, 10 S. Batavia Ave.
This program is cosponsored by the Tri-City Libraries. A permission form signed by a parent or legal guardian must be completed at registration. In addition, a meal fee of $3 will be charged for pizza and pop.

Library offers story time for tikes Monday evenings
The library’s Youth Services Department is offering a new evening story time for children between the ages of 3 and 5.
The story time is from 7 to 7:30 p.m. Mondays in the library. Children attend the program alone. The new times assists children who are unable to attend during the day.

Writer’s group to discuss Beckett’s book March 10
Moderator Richard Holinger leads the next meeting of the St. Charles Writers Group at 9:15 a.m. Saturday, March 10, in the library. The group will discuss “Krapp’s Last Tape,” by Samuel Beckett.
This group is designed for both fledgling and experienced writers, ages 18 and over.
Participants are encouraged to bring at least 20 copies of something they have written to each meeting.
Tuesday book discussion groups meet March 13
The library’s next meeting of its Second Tuesday Book Discussion Groups will meet March 13 at the library.
The 10 a.m. group will discuss “The Ha-ha,” by Dave King, and the 7 p.m. group will discuss “American Theocracy: The Peril and Politics of Radical Religion, Oil and Borrowed Money in the 21st Century,” by Kevin P. Phillips.
Multi-age story times ends March 14 for season
Multi-age story times are from 9:30 to 10 a.m. Tuesdays and Wednesdays through Wednesday, March 14.
Participants need to show a St. Charles Library card at the door to attend.
Scene stealers invites kids to bring favorite books to share
Fourth- through eight-graders are invited to the library’s next meeting of Scene Stealers at 4:15 p.m. Thursday, March 15, at the library.
This month is reader’s choice. Students are encouraged to bring two more of their favorite books to recommend to others. A soft drink or a juice may be brought to this discussion. Snacks will be provided.
TnT group to socialize at Scotland Yard March 15
The library’s next TnT: Twenties and Thirties’ program is a social at 7 p.m. Thursday, March 15, at Scotland Yard Pub, 301 W. Main St., St. Charles.
Participants are encourage to come and learn about this group open to those in their 20s and 30s. TnT is a series of library-sponsored programs and events which provides networking opportunities in a fun, social environment.
Family story time next meets March 17 at library
Family story time at the library is open to preschoolers of all ages and their parents.
The next time for this program is 9:30 a.m. Saturday, March 17, at the library.
Books at Noon will feature local author sharing tips
The next Books at Noon program is Wednesday, March 21, in the Library’s lower level meeting room.
Program will feature Library staff member Fran Manos, the author of “Beautiful Hands and Nails Naturally” and “Midwest Cottage Gardening.” Her discussion will be how to get a book published.
Guests are invited to bring a lunch to this discussion. Coffee and tea will be served.
