The start of a school year is a fun time for new beginnings, but for college students, the unknown can present some challenges. At Morton College, the administrative staff and faculty are working to prepare students for the fall semester.
"Our entire Student Services team is focused on registration and on removing enrollment barriers for students," explained Marisol Velazquez, Dean of Student Services. "We work on simplifying the process for them; our goal is to provide a positive experience from the moment students step foot on our campus." Extended hours are offered to ensure staff members are available for students, even on Saturdays. "We prepare an exciting week of events from August 19 - 23 to welcome all students," she added. "We offer New Student Orientation and Express Enrollment events, and each student is assigned an academic advisor to help guide them."
Morton College is featuring new programs and opportunities for students this fall. "We'll host a College Fair to facilitate the transfer process and to encourage higher education for the entire community on Wednesday, September 25th," said Velazquez. "We offer a Student Emergency Fund to help students in financial need and those facing a difficult situation that might prevent them from completing college. We also just opened a new fitness center!"
Velazquez is proud of the opportunities available to students who attend Morton College. "An education at MC is affordable, and students can still register for classes for the fall semester; we have late-starting classes, evening classes, and weekend classes," she said. "MC is a great option for students wishing to obtain a career certificate, and for those wanting to transfer to a four-year university. We are a small college with a huge heart. Our students are incredibly resilient in how they face and remove obstacles from their paths to transform their lives through education."
